Somewhere in 1920s, the tradition of science starting from Ionian awakening to Galileo-Kepler-Tycho-Brahe-Newton and then to Einstein went into some kind of ‘toxic asset’ crisis, at least in particle physics.
There was little incentive of talking about it as by that time, being a hobby of some freelancers science and scientific research became an institution cum establishment supporting many men, women, employees, institutions etc.
After eighty years from the discovery of those ‘toxic assets’, so-called scientific research at least in particle physics is in high level of degeneration now where ‘blind men are leading more blind but greedy people’. Modern Science no longer pursues nor allows anyone in its fold to pursue fundamental questions. There are very very few true ‘scientists’ now – plenty of professors, research associates and of course a multitude of career men. And they are those whose work and name will be never heard from the mainstream journals and literature.
Leaving apart applied research (which is more or less craftsmanship) for very large and powerful corporations, modern science is a mystified and glorified Indian clerkdom which does not have the potency to even ask the real, non-trivial and eternally existing questions.
In order to hide the toxic assets, up came few very prominent marketing strategies and the whole idea of those strategies were to protect the interest of vested groups, institutions and corporations.
The ‘toxic asset’ was simply the discovery that even an atom has consciousness and science knows nothing about consciousness except speculation. The whole edifice of so called ‘objective reality’ was an illusion. Modern Science – a tradition of 500 years in its present version made its greatest discovery and wrote its own letter of resignation.
But no, a necromancy took over and marketing tried to infuse life into a corpse which was decaying rapily. That also failed and then started a macabre effort to show to taxpayers that the corpse is living by smearing some lipstick on its dead lips and with a corporate / establishment sponsored microphone grafted inside the corpse’s throat, remotely operated.
1. Big Bang Theory : No one has seen a rose coming out after an explosion. But science says so – wait for billion of years and from the explosion everything will automatically spring up.
2. Origin of Life : Some sea, some soup, some reaction and lo, protoplasm and more vodoo and here you are : human being, the tail just dropped. There is absolutely a shred of evidence where even a single cell was made using chemicals. But science teaches our students that this lunacy is true
3. Genetic Theory : Make twisted strands, nicely DTP-ed pictures and models and lo : this is you – coded. If you know so well, why don’t you ask who designed these ? Did they come automatically ? Then why does a tree does not become a man after sometime ? Automatically ? This is not science – but highly microscopic detection and carpentry
4. The God Particle : The Tower of Babel folly of our time. Huge amount of money, ‘scientists’, engineers and media non-sense are being pumped to generate huge amount of energy and vodoo talk to satisfy some mental concoction of some man or group of men to find a particle (which apart from those few can have any grasp apart from palsy like head-shakes) in a gargantum machine called The Hadron Collider. What is the result ? Tons of paper filled with signs and symbols few can understand, vague concoctions and speculations, many misguided and misguiding men posing as scientists and a horde of media men who cannot distinguish an integral sign from second bracket educating common men as what grand achievement this is. Even if you find some exotic particle, what gain will be in understanding and applying the knowledge to solve the fundamental problems of life : Birth, Death, Disease and Aging ? Nothing. This speculation in the name of science can continue for next million of years, producing any number of particle zoos these ‘scientists’ care to make.
5. Fundamental Laws of Nature : Oh. What a marketing statement. Note the word ‘fundamental’. When I was 15/16 years old, I really got carried away and used to think that the men who discover these ‘fundamental laws’ are god-like – their name etched forever in the fabric of the Universe. Oh, what glory. But in five years, I came to my senses and recorded what transpired in my other blog – Wordsmith of Bengal. This word ‘fundamental’ is as fundamental as a company that sells its product under the tagline : Your search ends here ! Right now, one of the most fundamental aspect – an axiom almost – speed of light is being debated and some people claim to have found particles or something traveling faster than light and claiming, little sheepishly as to be their name being put into the grand fabric of the cosmos. Fundamental = as per the limit of the last mental concoction and most hegemonic evidence.
6. The Black Hole blacksheep : After so much maths and so much years and so many ‘brilliant’ men, we find out that when you look at the sky, there are many ‘dark matter’ and they are actually governing the gravitational field. What is a balck-hole ? The end of the life of some of the stars > 1.4 mass of the sun. Well. What a revelation !
